i just like that word. anyway i was working out this morning on the wiifit and thought about how unhealthy i am. i can barely finish a half hour wii work out. my thinking on this topic really hit home last night when, during our dinner, i got a facebook message from my aunt. she said that she had heard that there was going to be a 5k for diabetes (dont worry blogosphere, its a run/jog/walk event). my aunt said that she wants to do it with whomever in our family wants to but she really wants to either walk with or push meme in a wheelchair or her walker. i, of course, was the first person to chime in on this, since i wanted to start to run late last year. i said that i wanted to do it and i had thought in my mind that i would run it. that was my ignorationalization which was squashed this morning when i couldnt finish the run in place for five minutes thing on wiifit.
on the other hand i do have until april to figure this out. remember, also, that it is a run/jog/walk 5k so there is no shame in slowing down a bit. however i dont want that, i want to run the whole thing. so that is my goal, on 23 april, 2011 i WILL be RUNNING my first 5k... if i survive the traiing! please pray!

boredom
i know that it was october since i last addressed this section of the internets but as you all know i am lazy. i am sitting here at a friends house, its supposed to be man night but smoking has been banned in the man hut and everyone else is playing wwf, and i am bored. i have read my blogs and checked facebook and have found not much of interest. thats what brought me here. i sort of wish i could get out of this tonight, on top of us just sitting around waiting for something to happen there is an air of uncertainty here. not sure what it is but it is looming over our heads. anyway i hope to start blogging... no really, i do. i think this is a vital tool to my sanity. i often am wandering around pondering this or that and thinking "man, i should blog about this!!!" i usually forget, by the time i reach a computer, what my potential blogging points were. oh well. maybe i will keep a list on my phone... then again maybe not... damn my laziness!

the music of our lives...
HEY FIVER... HERE IS A NEW BLOG POST FOR YOU TO READ!!!
back to my otherwise beautiful thoughts... i have been on a HUGE roller coaster ride the last few weeks. i cant even begin to describe all of the emotions but here i am today, asleep in my bed and unstoned (blind melon). i have been listening to a wide variety of music lately in order to sit back, relax, and float down streams (beatles). i have discovered a few new artists that have been just what i needed (the cars). the first one is sort of a rekindled love, it the breeders, a firey alt chic band from the 90's with a flare of grundge and psychodellia and a hint of pure punk. started by kim deal of the pixies and tanya donelly of throwing muses, the breeders have helped me just get along (breeders) with my problems at work. i have found that they seemed to have influenced a number of other post grundge/pop punk bands that are thriving today, such as the strokes (they have a very similar sound).
the next 2 just wanna have fun (cydi lauper), they are me first and the gimme gimme's and jonathan coulton. me first and the gimme gimme's is a punk cover band that takes old brown (george harrison) songs and punkifies them. for example they took the lyrics and chord structure of fife and rain, added heavy distortion and speed the whole thing up and made an awesome cover version. in fact i dont think they have any originals at all yet everything they play is played in a pretty original way. their catalogue includes; i am a rock (paul simon), science fiction (rocky horror show), country roads (john denver who is from the rocky mountains and is high(roy green jr.)), stairway to heaven (led zepplin), crazy (patsey cline) and stand by your man (tammy wynette). fun, fun, fun (the beach boys).
the third and final artist i want to talk about is a guy named jonathan coulton. the only thing most people would have heard of his is the theme song to code monkeys, an 8-bit animation about a video game development company in the '80's of the same name. the theme song is only the chorus to the song. jonathan, whose fans lovingly call him joco, writes mainly about nerd topics like programming, evil villains falling in love, and ikea. he even has a song about how tom cruise crazy tom cruise is as well as a great cover of baby got back... hill-arious!!!
anyway, i have decided that i need to try my hand a writing so i am going to try, but before i do i need to study up. i talked to joel and he told me how he learned about lyric structure. i think i am going to start there and see how far i get. well, i guess thats it... i hope fiver is satisfied with what i have written.

sleep
i dont understand why, on the days i dont have anywhere to be until late, do i wake up at 5am but the days that i have somewhere to be at 7am i can barely roll out of bed at 630...whats the deal???
anyway, here it is, my first (even though long time coming) impressions on the iphone 4... the device i have been more excited about since gizmodo acquired theirs, the phone that people said would "revolutionize the mobile phone industry.. again," the phone that crashed both apples and at&ts servers. i would like to say that i do like my new phone but... there are things that i can not stand!!!
first things first, the following is a checklist of the main features of this phone:
retina display - love
5mp camera - love
720p vid cam - love
apples a4 processor - wow... love!!!
gyro + accelerametor - love
led flash - meh
multitasking - HATE WITH A PURPLE PASSION ON A HOT FREAKING DAY!!!
external antenna - meh... lets start there
i must say that i have had problems with phone reception like this before, in fact this is not the worse reception problem i have had. my next to last sprint phone i had to hold the phone at the top while raising the bottom of the phone almost straight up to talk at times, even when the phone was registering full bars. i hate talking on the phone anyway.
led flash, as you may know i am a shutter bug, i am rarely with out my camera so i dont use my iphones cam very much for stills. in other words i dont use the led flash very much so that feature is kind of wasted on me. but the video cam, man i love that. i dont use it as often as i would like (i kind of forget about it) but when i do, well... ITS SO AWESOME!!! in fact i bought a dock thing that i velcroed to my dash so i can start a car vlog... hope i update more often than i update this blog (;
speaking of flash, lets talk about apples conflicts with adobe and their "powerful" web enhancement, flash. i pretty much hate flash. it is pretty annoying most of the time. i have never missed flash abilities on my phone and if a website does not have a non flash version, it is pretty obvious to me that i dont need to visit it anyway.
ok so lets talk about that sore thumb thats sticking out of my list, multi tasking. when we used windows mobile phones you had to close every program twice, once to initially close the interface and again in task manager because if you didnt it would clog processing there by slowing the phone and eventually causing your phone to lock up. im not saying that the iphones processor will not handle all the processes (apple put a cap on the number of processes that can be open at one time) but if you only use an app once in a while, like i use the clock app on average once every few weeks, i hate that i have close the app then reclose it... THATS COMPLETELY REDUNDANT!!! i wish they would include a switch in settings to turn it off, that would be awesome but will probably never happen.
so over all i love my iphone 4, although i dont love it that much more than my 3g. it is better and much MUCH nicer looking, i cant say that i feel like i am on it as much as when i first got my 3g. i am on it a lot but i am not as enammered with it like i was with my 3g. im glad i did it though. anyway, i hope this was enjoyable as well as informative.

boredom
so i am sitting here at the tavern, kind of bored... im not much of a socialite. kirk is playing and last has just been called. i was just able to be proud of my marriage in public (not that i am never proud of my marriage in public but this time i guess i got to brag). one of our friends just announced she was super excited about our up coming anniversary party this weekend. the guy she was talking with across the table from me just asked how long we have been married. i said "ten years, in fact we are the only people in our core group of friends at the time we got married to stay married at all." i guess i kind of blabbed that before thinking, since i dont really know this cat, but it made me proud... sorry to those reading this who are no longer married or have never been married... we love you (;
anyway, the person who proclaimed her excitement about our party will be leaving us soon. her and her husband are moving to alaska. he is from there and misses it a lot. monday they go to austin so she can try out for american idol with another friend of ours. if she doesnt make it to hollywood they are splitting that friday (i think) for washington state to stay with his dad for a few weeks. then they make to trek to alaska. they decided last week to go so they put in their 2 weeks notice at their jobs and started packing. what faith, i mean, they dont have jobs or prospects for jobs or any ideas about how they will make a living there but they are jumping out on faith. i admire them for that. and i will miss them, we just started getting close. oh well, such as life. we will keep up with them through facebook and i guess they have phones there, seems unlikely though, HAHA.
so as a final thought i plan on adding another post next week, possibly on tuesday night whilst at the tavern, and the main subject will be a review of my precious... PRECIOUS!!! see you then!

camp, vlog, south park
ok so i got back from week one of camp last night and i am pretty tired. i will go back tuesday after i get off work. we only had one big bit of drama, too crazy to put up here but i can guarantee that it was a wild night with a total of 3 kids in the er (:
anyway before i left i got a dock for my phone so i can use it for a car vlog that i hope to turn into my motorcycle vlog. i was able to shoot, edit and upload the standard def video to youtube... i deleted it so good luck in finding it muhahahaha. anyway i might put one up while i am at camp this week.
i guess i dont have much to say, especially about south park, other than misscell and i are on season 8.
see you soon... maybe!!!

...and then life happened...
so i totally had the intent to write something up earlier this week but became very busy. we had friends coming in this weekend and our house was a wreck. this week was a rather clean week... i guess. i also had the intent to do an unboxing and write up on my first impressions on my new iphone 4. i still am going to write some about my impressions of my new phone but i feel that the unboxing is rather late and not necessary.
i feel that i need to write about my life at the moment. i have been in major conflict about my life path. after my wifes newest career possibilities in television i feel that i may need to go ahead and get a degree in it. in fact there is a position that has opened up at a university here in abilene that is a media lab supervisor. i am planning on applying for it but fear that i am rather under qualified for it. but in that same line of thought there is a university that i have found that may suite my needs for a degree. they have degrees in multimedia, broadcast, as well as music recording. all three are degrees that i am very interested in, i think i may try for a double major... after all i have 3 degrees to choose from. my plan is to do 2 things, one is to start a recording studio ( i know, i know, this is old info... for some i guess). the other is to whore myself out to different ministries and organizations that would need a promo or training vid. i will also be able to use it with my wifes tv stuff since she will be filming it herself... the usually means that i will be filming, editing, mastering all of the vids.
anyway, i have not quite gotten in the habit of writing my thoughts down for future blogging... in fact i have not done it at all but i will. well, i guess thats it for now (:
